Grant to support Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies
December 15, 2008
Governor Felix P. Camacho today announced Guam has been awarded a $50,000 investment grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration.
The grant will support a local, 3-year effort to develop a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), which will secure eligibility for future EDA funds.
"We are working with our federal partners to build economic strategies to strengthen our economy," Governor Camacho said. "This grant will help us establish a roadmap to foster economic growth and create more jobs for our people."
The investment grant will help develop Guam's unique CEDS, which is designed to bring together stakeholders from the public and private sectors in an effort to strengthen and diversify the local and regional economy.
The CEDS is a strategic document that must be submitted to the EDA to ensure Guam's eligibility for additional grant awards.
