Acting Governor presents certificates to students for academic accomplishments
January 23, 2009
Acting Governor Michael W. Cruz, M.D. today, gave awards to 15 PC Lujan students for their outstanding accomplishments in the Standard Achievement Test Series (SAT 10) for SY 2007-2008.
The 15 students ranked within the 90th – 99th percentile of highest possible scores. Each qualifying student is placed under one of the three categories to include Soaring Satellite (All three academic areas of Reading, Math & Language), Super Satellite (high rank in two of the three academic areas) and Shining Satellite (high rank in one of the three academic areas).
"It is important that we take every opportunity to encourage and recognize our children for their academic achievements," Acting Governor Cruz said. "I am proud of these students and their mentors. It is the guidance and support from the parents and teachers of these students that contribute to educational success."
The SAT 10 is one of the leading standardized achievement tests utilized by school districts in the United States for assessing children from kindergarten to high school and is used to measure academic knowledge of elementary and secondary school students.
