“Our administration is doing everything within our power to ensure our students continue to be fed and our schools remain open. Our office was notified of the potential cancellation of food service to DOE late this afternoon.
Based on communication with the Superintendent, I will be approving DOE’s declaration of a state of emergency for their food services program. This approval will allow DOE to use emergency procurement procedures to continue the school lunch program.
It is imperative that DOE, the Attorney General, and the Guam Legislature work to fix the contract deficiencies which have caused this problem. I want our community to know that my office will do everything within our power to resolve this issue.”
