www.oneguam.com showcases the island’s roadmap through the Guam Buildup

October 11, 2009

Governor Felix P. Camacho today announced the launch of the One Island – One Vision – One Future Web site. This Web site will be used to share the governor’s vision for the future and to promote the inclusive nature of preparing for the Guam buildup.

“We are working as one community to make Guam a better place. The scale of what we are embarking on is so large that it will affect the lives of everyone who calls Guam home,” said Gov. Camacho. “That is why our vision of ‘One Island – One Vision – One Future’ seeks to communicate to our people that they are all a part of this process.”

The Web site showcases government efforts to develop and pursue sound community plans, protect the environment, and manage resources.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to improve the quality of life for all Guamanians,” said Gov. Camacho. “The decisions we make now will maximize our opportunities and develop a road map to preserve our culture and improve the quality of life for this and future generations.”

The Web site seeks to provide up-to-date information on what various government agencies are doing to prepare for an influx to Guam’s population and the latest progress in government negotiations. Information on the Web site will continue to be updated as both government and military planning endeavors evolve.

“This is a vision that will continue to evolve as we move forward,” said Gov. Camacho. “However, what will remain constant is our resolve to do what’s best for our people, our environment, and our future.”

The Office of the Governor encourages everyone to visit the “One Island – One Vision – One Future” Web site at www.oneguam.com, which is now available. A sub domain is being developed at www.one.guam.gov and should be operational by 12 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2009.
