Web Site Advisory April 3, 2008 Our web host will be performing routine maintenance on the MySql server that contains our data. The following message was provided by our host: MySQL Maintenance Scheduled for Tonight
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve MySQL performance, we will be adding new hardware and re-allocating the load on our MySQL servers between 12:00am and 5:00am EDT on Thursday, April 3, 2008. During this five-hour maintenance window, there may be periods of time when your database is temporarily inaccessible, making the database-driven pieces of your Web site temporarily unavailable to your visitors. (You should be able to connect to your database(s) as normal for most of this maintenance window, but you may experience intermittent connectivity issues between midnight and 5:00am EDT.) We have scheduled this maintenance for a time when traffic to most customers' sites is typically at its lowest. Still, we apologize for any inconvenience, and we expect that the work we're doing will help improve your site's performance. - 04/02/08 at 14:52 ET

Governor Felix P. Camacho this morning discussed the possibility of establishing a trade commission office for Australia to help promote and guide investment opportunities in Guam during a meeting with Simon Crean, the Australian Minister of Trade.
"The presence of a Trade Commission in Guam will speed up the process of Australian companies investing in our island," Governor Camacho told the Minister. "We ask that you consider opening one up in Guam."
Governor Camacho told Minister Crean that sustainable prosperity among Guam, Australia and Micronesia is dependent upon direct access to our communities. "The key for Australian opportunities in Guam and Micronesia is if we have a direct sea link," Governor Camacho told the Minister. A direct sea link will allow the import of produce and goods from Australia, which can mean cheaper costs and higher-quality products.
The Governor told the Minister that Guam serves as the air and sea hub of Micronesia, so there is opportunity for Australia to branch such direct sea services into the rest of Micronesia.
Minister Crean said that such an opportunity may arise with the formation of a Pacific free trade agreement called the Pacific Area Cooperative Economic Relationship, or PACER. "We can have a look at PACER implications for Guam," the Minister said.
"We're going to talk to the U.S. trade office when I go to Washington, D.C. and I ask that you also bring up the inclusion of Guam as this agreement is negotiated," Governor Camacho said. "This can mean great things for our region in the way of cheaper and fresher produce and goods."
Minister Crean also focused much of his attention on Australian opportunities to help Guam as the island begins working toward strengthening critical infrastructure.
"One of the things I'm interested in is the reforms you're implementing to build infrastructure in Guam," Minister Crean told the Governor. "We think public-private partnerships are a very important way to build infrastructure."
Governor Camacho briefed the Minister on the Guam Buildup and the need to expand port, water, wastewater, solid waste, medical, education and other infrastructure.
"Our infrastructure builders are interested in exporting their capacity to Guam. The things you're looking at are important services we can export and assist with," Minister Crean told the Governor.
"I see a growing presence and involvement with Australian companies in providing the goods and services Guam and Micronesia need," Governor Camacho said.
