Acting Governor Cruz released the following statement regarding the approval of GDOE’s 2009 Consolidated Grant and the release of more than $8 million in carryover funds from FY 08: “USDOE’s release of $8.2 million in carryover funds from FY 08 and their approval of $20 million through the 2009 Consolidated Grant is evidence of GDOE’s effort to improve their financial accountability. GDOE will be allowed to immediately access the carryover funds which will alleviate some of the financial pressure they’ve been experiencing. I want to commend GDOE for their commitment to improving the management and accountability of federal funds. Their hard work has increased USDOE’s confidence in our school system and secured the funding for federal programs that provide our children with the services and education they deserve.” |
